Meghan (Duff) Fernandez

Executive Assistant

Meghan has been partnering with Founders and CEOs for over 15 years, with a unique view of each company from the Executive perch.

Prior to Cowboy, Meghan was EA to Pat Brown, Founder & CEO at Impossible Foods, a role she began when the pre-production, pre-commercial company was still in stealth mode. As employee No. 100, Meghan wore multiple hats and helped the company scale to over 800 employees, including a scalable EA program.

Before Impossible, Meghan was EA to Ram Shriram of Sherpalo Ventures, and to the CEO of the mid-size SF consulting firm, Pivot.Point Partners.

‍What is one of your favorite childhood memories?

Playing pedro. When I was a kid our parents would always be playing cards and we’d get so annoyed. I decided at the age of 8 I wanted to learn how to play. My uncle Jean said he’d teach me if I learned how to shuffle. I spent the next 6 hours practicing. Later that day he taught me how to play. My favorite place to play pedro is on the beach at Chambers Landing, Lake Tahoe.

What are some unusual jobs you’ve had in the past?

I worked for the Office of Emergency Services, San Francisco. I was tasked with supporting their Disaster Preparedness Programs. I learned how to put together earthquake kits and other helpful survival kits. While at OES I had an opportunity to fly to Atlanta to work for FEMA as a hurricane relief specialist for a few weeks. I partnered with the mobile HR team to keep tabs on all the volunteers etc. It was a very unique experience.

What is your favorite dessert?

Chocolate chip ice cream. Ever since I was a child we always had chocolate chip ice cream. As I’ve grown up, I find it harder and harder to come by at ice cream parlors. The flavors have changed but I will always be a die hard Chocolate Chip girl.
